Ahonye Gift is the C.E.O OF
G.E Beauty Empire, an affordable growing organics beauty brand based in Abuja.
In this interview with Sozaya, she speaks on the inspiration for her brand and
how it has motivated her to do better.
Please can you introduce yourself and your
brand?
My name is Ahonye
Gift Agnes and I am the C.E.O of G.E
Beauty Empire Brand. G.E is an
abbreviation of the first names of me and my partner.- Gift and
Emmanuel.(smiles)
Please tell us about your brand–
where are you based and what kind of products do you produce?
We are an Abuja
based natural skincare company. We produce skincare and beauty products ranging
from soaps, lotions, scrubs, masques and a few others. We never compromise the quality of our
products and we also help our clients understand the benefits of using natural
skincare products.
Where did you get the inspiration for your
brand?
I got the
inspiration to make natural skincare products due to my personal experiences. As
a teenager growing up, I wanted to maintain my natural complexion and didn't
want to use any skin damaging but unfortunately despite being careful, I still
wasn't lucky enough with choosing the right products for my skin which resulted
in me getting ugly stretch marks. I really wanted to take them off by all
means, so I realized that there were people out there who had the same
challenges, people who wanted natural products but probably couldn’t
afford them and the idea was formed.
What are the perks about running your
business?
It gives
confidence about what goes on my skin and the fact that am able to help others
achieve their skincare goals, gladdens my heart
What was the hardest thing about launching
your own skincare business?
Well, the hardest
thing I will say I went through, launching my business is in the branding
aspect. I had to take every decision alone-decide on my brand colour, niche,
how I want my brand to communicate to my clients. It was really tiring at that
time, but I thank God I was able to overcome and it has made me more determined
to make my brand a success.
What is the one piece of advice you would
give to aspiring skincare entrepreneurs who want to follow in your footsteps?
I will advice
every aspiring skincare entrepreneurs to first and foremost get the right
training from the right source, also do enough research about the business
before going into it, skincare business is no joke. You need to be ready to
give it your best and most importantly never give up on your dreams.
