4 Apr 2019

Black seeds also known as Black Cumin Seeds are amongst some of my favorite herbs due to some of its benefits such as minimizing acne scars, rosacea, skin irritation, psoriasis and eczema.

It is also a wonderful addition to body butters especially for kids. You can spice it up by immersing the seeds in your favorite carrier oil in addition to other herbs such as ginger, clove, lemongrass to get a really effective antiseptic oil. It can be boiled in water, strain and drink it for detoxification.

Let's see some benefits of this ingredient

It can be used to treat toothache, headache, asthma and intestinal worms.

It helps in boosting sperm reproduction
It is commonly used in treating diabetes, hypertension and other health related conditions.

For skin:
It helps in improving skin elasticity
It can be used to treat skin conditions such as eczema, ringworm and rashes.
It can also be used to make the skin glow as it helps in promoting it's overall health.

How to make Black Seed Tea

INGREDIENTS:
2.5 Cups of water
1 Tablespoon of black seed
1/2 Teaspoon of dried ginger
1/ 2 Teaspoon honey
DIRECTIONS:
Place the water in a pan along with the black seeds.
Bring the tea to boil and allow to boil on high for 1 more minute.
Remove the tea from the stove and strain the seeds off and enjoy.

You can add other spices such as sesame seeds, fennel, turmeric with the black seeds. When adding in extra herbs and seeds, you must reduce the black seeds in half.  So if you are adding fennel seeds, then add in 1 tablespoon of black seeds and 1 tablespoon of fennel seeds.  The same with others except spicy ones like clove or ginger, which you use in half.

Ever since I started, I noticed my body feels lighter and I rarely feel constipated. I take a cup in the morning and night. In Nigeria, black seeds are quite common. I really don't know their indigenous names but in Hausa, it  is called 'Habbatul Sauda'...I hope I got the spelling,right..It's kinda difficult to pronounce if you don't understand the language. You can spice up your formulations especially soaps, butters and oils with this magic seed...xoxo..Remain beautiful.
