Let's talk about rice😍😍😍

Rice is one of the staple foods in this part of the world.Infact,one of my favourites.But I don't just eat it...I use it for a whole lot of other things, of which includes skincare. And it's milk has recently become one of the staple ingredients in my formulations because of it's  amazing benefits to the skin which include :  

Mosturizes the skin.
Makes the skin softer and smoother.
Is an excellent natural toner and astrigent.
Reduces and shrinks the appearance of pores.
Soothes skin irritations.
Promotes skin repair.
Can be used on hair to add shine and silkiness.
Makes the skin brighter because it slows down melanin formation
Protects the skin from sunburns

How to make rice milk

Many people have the misconception that rice milk is what remains after you wash the grains of rice prior to cooking them, but that’s not the case. You can in fact use that water for some purposes, but it doesn’t pack the same benefits that true rice milk does – and to make it you have to boil your rice in water.


½ cup white rice.
4 cups water.
What do you do?

To make my rice milk, I usually parboil my rice for 10 minutes to soften it or you can soak it overnight if you have the time.
After the rice has softened, I pour into my blender and blend to get a pasty texture.

Then you get a strainer or clean white cloth.

Pour the blended rice into the cloth and squeeze or strain.

You would notice the milk coming out and dropping into the bowl underneath.

Now you've gotten the milk, it's time to make some formulations with it!

You can use it for your handmade soap formulations, black soap, face masks, body scrubs...

Rice milk facial

Rice milk

To apply the toner just moisten a cotton ball in the rice milk and apply it liberally to your face and neck if you want. It will provide long-lasting benefits to your skin and you’ll notice that it’s smoother and oil-free

Rice milk cleanser

1/2 cup brown rice flour
2-3 tablespoons pure organic rice milk.

1. Mix the flour and milk together to form a paste, rub gently onto skin, then rinse with warm water.
To keep the skin in perfect condition and prevent premature skin aging.

Japanese Rice Mask
1. You need 2-3 tablespoons of raw rice of your choice and cook until it softens (put raw rice in cold water, gradually heat up until soft). Strain and put the rice water in a separate bowl.
2. Rinse your rice and add a tablespoon of warm milk. Stir until it is well combined and add a tablespoon of honey.
3. Apply a generous amount of the mask on your face. Remember to clean it thoroughly before the application.
4. Carefully remove the mask after half an hour and rinse with rice water.
