My lightening and exfoliating black soap

20 Nov 2017

I was not really a fan of the popular black soap because it causes bumps on my face within a week of using it. I had a terrible experience the last time I used it, which was about 4 years ago, I was only able to get rid of the spots and bumps with the help of Swissgarde's Tea Tree cream and T-Basics soap. I have not attempted using anything with the label 'Black Soap' since then, until recently.

I stumbled across 'Moroccan Black Soap' while shopping for products for my online store and my supplier wanted me to try using it. I haven't tried this one before  but I made up my mind to stop immediately if I notice any form of reaction on my skin. I formulated a recipe with some amazing herbs I got and made the soap. I did not add any fragrance oil, hence the scent was not really pleasing but I didn't mind because I was experimenting with it.

I have been using the soap for two weeks now, and I have had no reactions whatsoever. On the contrary, my skin has become softer and smoother, I also don't have to worry about getting darker or having blemishes, as the soap prevents that,so it is a win-win for me. You can notice the tightening of the skin after using it.My skin is absolutely loving it and I think I would be using it all through this dry season. Here is the recipe I  used...

Ingredients
200 grams of Moroccan Black soap
2 teaspoons of Lemon juice
2 teaspoons of Honey
1 teaspoon of Rice powder
1 teaspoon of Neem powder
1 teadpoon of Camwood powder
2 teaspoons of Unripe pawpaw paste
1 teaspoon of Mulberry extract
1 teaspoon of Tamarind paste
1 teaspoon of Vitamin E oil
1 teaspoon of Grapeseed oil
1 teaspoon of fragrance oil(optional)

Steps
1. Unwrap your Moroccan soap and pour into a mortar.

2. Pound the soap using the pestle until it becomes fluffy and softer. Pour in all the ingredients and pound some more until the ingredients are properly mixed.

3. Add your fragrance oils and stir some more. You might not get a very smooth texture but it shouldn't also contain lumps. The residue should be small and grain like, this helps in exfoliating the skin.

4. Your soap should have become like a paste at this point. If you want it to become thicker, simply add more soap. This is not liquid herbal soap hence it shouldn't be too watery.Pour into your cans and you can start using it immediately.
.

To use, simply take some of the soap paste and pour into your sponge. To apply on your face, take a small amount onto your palm and apply in a circular motion all over your face. You would notice the difference in your skin texture almost immediately after using it.

Honey helps in moisturizing and smoothening the face while ingredients like Neem and Camwood help in eradicating acne. Lemon juice, Mulberry and rice powder prevents darkening, clears spots and lightens the skin. It is properly best to use at night if you are the type that is usually under the scorching sun during the day but it is perfect for night use. This is a perfect natural lightening and exfoliating soap for this sunny weather. For maximum results, combine with your lightening cream/ lotion or oil. I love this soap as I can now enjoy black soap without worrying about reactions. Hence if you react to black soap like me but you wish you can use it, then try this recipe. Until my next post....remain beautiful😉.
