GHANA SET TO BAN SKIN LIGHTENING PRODUCTS

3 Jun 2016

From August 2016,  Ghana's Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) is set to ban the sale of cosmetic products which contain the skin bleaching ingredient 'hydroquinone'. This will ensure that the products will no longer be imported to the country. This is to deter users of the cancer-causing chemical within the Ghanaian market.

According to FDA spokesperson, James Lartey, all skin lightening products and those  containing hydroquinone will not be allowed into the country.
